For several months now, the girls have been seeing a EIS once a week, but I always refferred to her as a PT just because it sounded easier. But in all reality she is their Early Interventionist Specialist where she has shown me things that I can do to help the girls come to speed on their developement.
Their EIS has reffered them to a Physical Therapist who works more directly with helping their body's do the things they should be able to do by now.
Like stand flat on their feet when you are holding them, be able to go from a sitting to crawling position, those types of things...
Wanted to share all this to help you better understand these adorable pictures that follow.
Mr Ray (their PT) would sit the girls on this huge ball, and then he would wiggle the ball causing the girls to have to balance themselves in order to not fall. Of course he never ever lets them actually fall off the ball, but the goal in doing this is so that the girls will become more aware of how to catch themselves when they are sitting, so that they don't fall over.
Molly did super with this excersise, everytime Mr Ray would wiggle the ball she would catch her self with her arm and hand and not fall.
SO maybe the next time she is sitting on the floor minding her own business and Miss Emma decides to push her to take her toy, Molly will catch herself and not fall. :) And YES....this has happened!
Emma wasnt so sure of the ball at first but she eventually became okay with it :)
In the picture Mr Ray is teaching Molly how to balance on her hands and knees. As you can see, Molly was a fan of this giant ball!
I was very hesisitant about having a EIS and a PT come along and help show us what our girls "should" be doing, but at the end of the day...It doesn't hurt for them to have some extra "help" a long with Mommy and Daddy teaching them as well. Whatever can help my girls advanced to their "actual age", I am all for it.
Everytime the girls are evaluated they always rank two months behind what their actual age is. But to me, they just seem like average little babies just doin' their own thing one step at a time.
