Fun Firsts

Today was an exciting day for us!

Today was the first time I was actually able to put REAL bows in their hair! Don't they just look so adorable?!

Emma is pretty excited about her hairbow too :)

Molly is not only excited about her hairbow but she is also very happy to announce that her very first TOOTH came in!!! Yay big girl!

Rick, Emma, Molly and I were all on the couch and I was putting some orajel on Molly's gums and when rubbing her bottom gum I felt something sharp and I thought to myself there is NO way...I opened up her little mouth and sure enough a little white dot has appeared! I was first so excited I just laughed with joy and then in the same moment I was laughing I began to cry like a baby. I looked at Rick with tears streaming down my face and I just kept saying "its going by too fast, my babies are growing too fast" He of course just laughed at me because he was stunned that just seconds sooner I was all giggly and now I am a basket case. haha Hormones! What can I say?!

Today was also the first time Emma and Molly had big girl food!

Here is Emma right before her first taste of cereal!

She really did great with it! She knew exactly what to do with it.

Daddy wanted to get in on the fun too

All Done! Yay,Big Girl!

Aren't They Just the Cutest?!!
I know I am slightly biased! :)

Today I took the girls to the Dr because Emma has been congested and it sounded to me as if it were in her chest as well, but the Dr said she seemed fine and just gave us some decongestion medicine for her.

While we were there I had them check Molly's weight because she hasnt really had an appetite for a couple weeks now and I wanted to make sure she wasnt losing. And well it turns out she isnt losing but she also isnt gaining much either. :(

When they put the girls on the scale Emma weighed more than Molly for the first time ever!I got tears in my eyes because I felt awful that I didnt know Molly's weight was being affected. She seems fine to me, she doesnt fuss, she sleeps well, no fever, I just figured she was going through a stage because of her teething and didnt want as much to eat. But when the scale showed it was keeping her from her normal weight gain I felt really crummy.

When the girls went in for their 4 month check up I mentioned before that the Dr said I could start them on cereal. Me wanting to keep them babies longer asked if this was something they needed or just able to have, and he said that they were just able to have it. So, because they didnt really need it I chose not to start them on it. I just wasnt ready for them to already be big enough to eat baby food! But today, the Dr ordered I start them on it for sure. Atleast Molly, since she isnt really wanting her bottle she needs to get her calories somehow. So starting tomorrow...cereal it is. I am so nervous about this. I hope their little tummies take well to it.

I cant believe my girls are really entering into this stage. Before I know it, their 1st birthday will be here.

Emma eats like a champ she drinks 5-6 ounces now every 4 hours or so.
And I am still just making Molly the 4 ounces but she has been deciding after 2 ounces she's done. I try to encourage her to drink more as long as she isnt gagging or throwing up.

At Emma's 4 month check up she was 10lbs 13 oz and today she was 12lbs 2oz! Woo hoo Em's!

And Molly went from 11 lbs 1oz to 11 lbs 15oz. Not much of a gain but atleast it is a gain.

My chitter chatter boxes talk in their own little language constantly and they laugh and smile so much. I am just really enjoying this stage. They sleep awesome, and they are content yet they love to snuggle with mommy. And I enjoy it too! :)

I saw for the first time Molly reach out and grab a toy while she was in her swing. I was so proud of her! They can hold toys really well if you put it in their hand but for her to reach out and grab it herself made me really excited!
Of course I took a picture! haha It's under their new 21-24 week album.

And Emma, I have watched her a couple times put her paci in her mouth all by her big girl self! She likes to take it out and toss it all by her big girl self too. haha And again pictures of that! I try to catch everything I can because these moments are passing just too fast for me!

Look for pictures of their first time eating cereal coming soon...

Until next time...

21 Weeks

The girls are now 21 weeks and we just took our first family vacation. We went to Florida for Molly and Emma to meet my grandparents who are very dear to my heart, and for them to see their Aunt Marsha again and to meet their cousins. We really had a great time. Below are some of my favorites from this past week.

Aunt Marsha was so gracious to let us stay in her home for the week.

Molly and her Great Grandma whom we named her after :)

Emma and her Great Grandpa. My mom was named after her dad, and I after mine, so we named Emma after her daddy. His middle name is Emory so we figured Emma was the equivalent of that:)

That's right Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a thumb sucker! I catch her (Molly)doing this all the time! Sometimes she will even have her little fingers curved around her nose!

We got to have dinner with our cousins Paul and Cheryl and their 2 sons. We had such a nice time. Cheryl bought Emma and Molly their 1st pair of shoes!

We really had a wonderful time while we were there. Sunday we went to church with my family and My Aunt was very excited about letting everyone meet our girls. She sings in their choir and wanted us to get to church a little early so she could take us to the choir room for everyone to meet Molly and Emma. Little did I know that the choir was well over 60 People. We walk in and everyone is practicing their song, the choir Director stops the music and tells everyone that he wanted to introduce to them someone they all had been praying for, and then they introduced my sweet girls and everyone gave them a round of applause.

For a second I wanted to cry, because it is overwhelming to me that so many faces I had never even seen before had been lifting MY girls up by name in prayer. And for me to come face to face with many of these strangers is quite a blessing. It feels great to be able to see the faces of so many people that asked God to save my babies.

Its hard to believe that these girls have been in my life for 5 months already. Time goes by so fast, and every day I am still amazed at the goodness of our God. I look at them and just want to pinch myself because I cant beleive that they are REALLY here, they are TRULY healthy, there is TWO of them, and they are MINE.

I would have never thought in a million years that I would one day be the Mommy of twin girls who happen to be sent to me straight from the hand of God.

Happy 5 months baby girls! Mommy loves you more than you will ever know!

I just love these little boogers too death!

They are so chatty these days and they have the sweetest little voices!

They are seeing a child developement person every week now. She comes to the house and basically just helps me to make sure that the girls stay developementally where they are suppose to. They seem to be right on target right now, but a lot of times with babies as early as mine they go through a delay period where they could fall behind so this is to help prevent that delay.

The lady that comes, is named Miss Hope and the girls love her! They giggle at her all the time!
After the very first time meeting them, when she came back the following week she could tell them apart! :)

Now if we could just get the Grandpa's on board we will be doing just great! haha

We are taking our very first family vacation and headed to the beach for the week! I am SOOO looking forward to it!

The girls wont remember this vacation but I know that in the moment they will realize its something they have never seen before and they will be mesmerized by the ocean. They are very alert babies and its not hard to catch their eye!

We will be sure to post lots of pictures!
I added about 85 new ones today to their 16-20 Week album. Go figure! I love capturing some memories of my babies!:-)

See you soon!

19 Weeks

My Big Girls are just growing too fast! As you can see they are very happy babies. Always smiling, always laughing. Their new favorite thing to do is coo. They have the sweetest little baby voice. They both keep their hands in their mouth and are beginning to drool which probably means the teething stage is surely around the corner.

They love to roll to their side when it is time to sleep. Molly likes to sleep with her arms stretched above her head and Emma loves to sleep with her hand on her face or either her arm across her face.

I am really struggling with what to do about this bed time thing. I thought placing them in two different bassinets to sleep would solve the problem I seem to be having with worried about their safety during the night, but it hasnt.

When they slept together, they always seemed to roll into eachother because the pack and play is elevated to help with their refulx so it made sliding into eachother a lot easier. So I placed one in the pack and play and the other in the bassinet but the bassinet isnt as wide as the pack and play. This morning I woke up about 5am to check on the girls and Molly had her face pressed against the side of the bassinet. I seriously almost died right there. I mean holy cow, all of the what if's went through my mind. So No more bassinet over night.

My very last option of being able to keep them in my room at night is now going back to the pack and play but not having it elevated. That way they dont collide into one another. Granted they can roll tummy to back, they havent mastered the back to tummy, so I dont have to worry about them * i hope* winding up on top of eachother with the bed laying flat.

I am just going to have to test it out through out their naps today and see if it will work.

I am just going to have to sit them up for a while in their bouncy seats after their bedtime bottle, before putting them to bed at night, so that maybe their reflux wont bother them.

Wish us luck, because I really am not ready for them to be in their room at night. But I want them to be safe, so if it turns out that this pack and play isnt going to work after all, then the cribs it will be and I will just have to deal with it. :-(

Any other twin moms want to email me, and tell me how old their babies were before they went to their rooms, and what kind of sleeping arrangements you had for them up until that point??

Suggestions would be great!

Thanks!
