More Pawpaw Moments

This  past weekend Rick & I took a trip to see Pawpaw.
Please continue to pray for him.
It became more real to me this visit that he has cancer.
He is a lot more weary & tired, & he can't really eat much anymore.
He got sick several times while we were there.
I wish so badly i could take this evil disease away from him.

It kills me every time I have to leave.
I wish that I could stay beside him every day but I know that isn't possible.
So I am savoring every moment I get to spend with him, be it in person or by phone.

One of my favorite childhood past times with Pawpaw is waking up in the mornings to his Oatmeal!!
His oatmeal recipe has been mouth watering to me since I was a kid.
And to this day he makes me his oatmeal in the mornings when I am there!

Pawpaw making me some oatmeal!

His eyes have been giving him a lot of trouble lately so his vision comes & goes due to a pocket of fluid located behind his eye socket.
At any rate, he had  a couple of shirts he hasn't been able to wear in a while because the buttons fell off & he hasn't been able to see well enough to fix them.
So he asked me if I knew how to sew a button on.
Shamefully, I did not!  I have never touched a needle or thread!
So when I told him that he says,
" wait right here, I'm about to teach my granddaughter something"

He gets up goes to his room, & comes back with a bag of needles & threads!
He so patiently taught me how to sew!
I am so excited about this! :)

Here is my very 1st button that Paw Paw & I did together!

We had a nice time with Pawpaw. I helped him sort through his bills, & organize some things around the house for him. Rick set up his new TV my mom bought him,
& we took him to visit my Grandma's brother. (James)
And I also got to spend some time with my cousins Pat & Nicole while
Pawpaw & Rick chatted with Uncle James.

One of the big things I am excited about over this weekend is that I found Paw Paw's wedding Ring!
When we first got there, I noticed it wasn't on his finger so I asked him about it & he told me that last week he took it off the morning of his surgery (hernia repair) & he couldn't remember where he put it.
I searched high & low for that ring, & the morning that we were suppose to leave to head home & I still hadn't found it, I was getting very sad.
I prayed & prayed we could find it, and it's almost as if God threw it in front of me & said " here it is".
I was in the linen closet looking for an old blanket  that I bought my grandparents when I was on a mission trip in Mexico about 12 yrs ago.
Anyways, I looked down & there the ring was! on the floor buried in the carpet!
I hooped & hollard so loud, you could have sworn I won the lottery.
I definitely felt like I had just hit the jackpot. :)
And Pawpaw was of course excited too.
Whew! I am so thankful we found that.

Me & My sweet Pawpaw

I feel privileged to say that I have never met a single man that I could say had a heart as good as my Pawpaw's until I met my husband.
I am truly blessed to have such wonderful men in my life!

Please pray that God protects my Pawpaw from any pain or suffering. I love him so much, I just want him to be okay.
Given he is feeling okay, we are suppose to go back in a few weeks to pick him up & bring him to SC for the week. He is going to come down the week of Molly & Emma's birthday party so that he can celebrate their special day with us.
It would mean everything to me if he is able to do this. So please pray that he stays strong & his body allows him to travel.
I can't wait until I am able to see him again! I know it's only 4 weeks away but it feels like forever!
